美國私攝影先驅南．高丁自70年代起以影像展陳邊緣群體的美與痛，作品圍繞LGBTQ+族群、次文化、性與毒品。她對體制的反抗從無聲的影像延伸至抗爭行動——因服用止痛藥意外成癮，她帶頭創立組織P.A.I.N.，終揭發藥廠的驚天陰謀，對抗以人命換取暴利的藥業家族。
本片由《第四公民》導演羅拉柏翠絲執導，記錄了P.A.I.N.對抗賽克勒家族的過程，同時透過珍貴的幻燈片及私密訪談，展開南．高丁不為人知的家族史與個人成長史。
