現代舞之母瑪莎・葛蘭姆曾道：舞者會經歷兩次死亡。出身台灣的許芳宜，揚名國際卻踟躕迷失，舞者的榮耀背後，是腰椎受損，是異鄉落寞⋯⋯在這部半自傳式電影中，她選擇繼續透過肢體說話，直面舞者的宿命。導演與舞蹈家的雙線敘事，真實與虛幻交錯映襯。
SALUTE is a feature-length film that combines fiction, experimental and documental elements and breaks the frame of film genres that most people think. Four particularperiods in the dance career of world-famous Taiwanese monde dancer, Fang YiSheu, are highlighted to depict her dance journey. In some way, this film can beconsidered as semi-autobiography, yet it is definitely not a documentary since the whole production is produced in a fictional manner. What’s more, the main idea of production is the parallel creation formed by the director and the dancer. The script and the extended production details were developed after the director started shooting.
