愛沙尼亞的祖傳習俗「煙熏桑拿」被列為非物質文化遺產，焗桑拿、吃熏肉、揮舞白樺樹枝⋯⋯當地人洗滌身心之所，猶如供朝聖的殿堂。閨密相約圍爐取暖、身體與心靈赤裸展露，將凛冬與父權社會的性別規範暫拒於門外。沐浴於氤氳，私密話語隨汗水墜落又蒸發。
女性是命運共同體，身體焦慮、月經羞恥、婚姻、家暴、墮胎、性侵、出櫃⋯⋯種種在父權世界難以承受的創傷和屈辱，煙霧繚繞的桑拿房是否都能一一療癒？
In the darkness of the smoke sauna, women share their innermost secrets and intimate experiences. Through a sense of communion, women wash off the shame trapped in their bodies and regain their strength. A deeply moving, intimate and breathtaking approach to issues of trauma, healing, and community. Rather, the images move as the smoke – lingering, wafting, suspended briefly before disappearing and reappearing.
With an authentic voice and authority born of their own heritage, filmmaker Anna Hints has created a transformative experience of being human within a female body, showing women “as they are” with great emotional veracity and deep empathy.
