苗族在歷史洪流中不斷被迫遷徒，最終散居於各處高山貧瘠之地，他們的歌聲代代相傳。其中雲南大山村寨有一個由農民組成的基督教合唱團，聖經和詩歌是他們的最大信仰。深山藏不住天籟，合唱團一舉成名並登上一個又一個的舞台，連帶大山村寨也得到關注，族群的生活模式發生了前所未有的變化。
繼拍攝新疆籍流浪青年的影片《偷》，獨立紀錄片導演陳東楠再次以邊緣族群為題，耗時五年拍攝苗族村寨小水井合唱團的故事。
After hiding in the mountains for a century, a Miao ethnic village choir is discovered by an outsider and becomes a national sensation. But the Miao lost almost everything, including their homeland and written language, during the painful migrations in history because of frequent wars. However, there was one thing that wars couldn’t take away – the Miao took deep pride in singing for nature and spirituality, which is also their only oral history. With the arrival of western missionaries in the 1930s, Christian hymns brought consolement but also led to the disappearance of their past folklore…
Then today, the choir got the opportunity to step out of the mountain and became a national sensation, and the meaning of singing is changed again. After all, who were they and who are they now?
